Welcome to AW26, the first Melia McDermott collection, and the beginning of something big.
This first campaign, “Hide and Seek” was inspired by a two year old’s precious attempt to conceal himself and his stuffed elephant half way under a bed. Amid surpressed laughter it occurred to me, we’re not always as well hidden as we think.
Clothing both conceals and reveals us. We use it to tell the world what we want it to know, and to hide what we don’t. What we wear and our identities get helplessly intertwined. How we choose to go out into the world says something. Not only to observers, but to ourselves.
This collection says - I care about how I feel. Wearing one of our artisan made, all natural material pieces shows that you value not only the planet, but your own health and quality of life. It’s a testament that what you love matters. That you believe you deserve to have what you want.
I have very literally put it all on the line to bring this collection to you, and I believe these are pieces that you will wear and wear and wear.

Pre-ordering
We have decided to offer this collection through a pre-order model, meaning your card will be charged in full at checkout, then your product will be made and shipped to you an estimated 4 weeks from the order date.
Even though we are big “instant gratification” fans, this being the early days, pre-orders will allow us to phase production, make payments on our line of credit for materials purchased in advance of sales, and eliminate wasted product. We know it might feel like a bit of a leap of faith to order in advance, but we stand behind our product, and if you are unsatisfied at all, we will happily accept returns within 14 days of delivery.
Once our materials are gone pre-orders will close and we will see you again next season!!
Each piece in this season’s collection is made with 100% Peruvian Highland Wool, brought straight to Canada from the mill in Peru. It’s soft against skin, durable, breathable, and oh so cozy.
Melia and her small team of local artisans make and finish each piece right here in Calgary, Alberta. Baltej, our master knitter, prepares panels that are then ribbed and seamed by hand. Other pieces like the AW26 toque and mittens are knit entirely by hand. In other words, by purchasing a Melia McDermott piece, you are giving artisans an opportunity to continue doing what they love most - practicing their craft.

A handcrafted wristlet keychain, this piece features chunky 25mm wood beads individually hand-strung and knotted on 2mm natural leather cord — a technique that both protects your beads from wear and creates a unique design feature. Dyed Jade Beaded Necklace, 12mm, Hand-Knotted on Silk with 14k Gold Plated Clasp
Blue grey jade beads in a substantial 12mm round cut, hand strung and individually knotted on yellow silk. The dyed jade has a smooth, glossy finish with soft natural variation from bead to bead, making each piece completely unique. Finished with a 14k gold plated lobster clasp.

Care: Avoid prolonged exposure to water, perfume, and lotion. Store flat or laid out to protect the silk knots, and store away from harder stones and jewelry.

Each 10mm bead is cut from real buri palm seed, giving every single one its own subtle ridges, grain, and tonal variation — no two chains (or beads!) are ever quite the same. Expect soft ivory, warm taupe, and dove-grey hues to mingle along the strand, a natural feature that makes each piece one of a kind.
Measuring ~9" in length, this chain is hand strung and individually knotted on durable waxed Brazil cord for both strength and a polished, handmade finish.
